Gestures
02:14
|

Your gestures
They make me laugh
Your gestures
They are absent tonight
But I will squirm like a politician
And you will scream at the television
We're both so happy to be on camera
That we won't notice our faces

How'd You Ever
04:51
|
|||
He was a message sender
A vacant member
He fancied a street vender who sold herself
For ten dollars a piece on main street
But he tied himself to a shrink
Who talks in slow-prose
She phrases her contempt like only a professional knows how
Diagnosed and bound
He chops trees with his brother
As they comfort one another
They discuss the news
And the patterns in the weather
It’s so good to spend time together
And they say, “Well how’d you ever get your life like that? I don’t mean to bother you but I just have to ask”
And he replies, “I guess I never really thought about that.”
Not at all concerned with the flavor of the week
He was preoccupied with his lessons called “learning how to teach” and “living comfortably”
He took pride in the classroom until one day he tripped, he knocked his little head and he woke up as a priest, preaching how to live beneath
He was a message sender
Singing “lover me tender”
He met a poet
And he named him “the pretender”
And the poet said
“How’d you ever get your life like that? I don’t want to be rude, but I just have to ask”
And the priest replied, “Well I guess I never really thought about that”
He met a Swedish magician
A rhyming bottom feeder
He wanted to pay the poet, but he couldn’t read the meter
So he bought himself a book
And stayed up with it all night
It was called “4 simple steps on how to live your life, in black and white”
He moved into a cave
He gave his money away
And all that stupid book had said was “go outside and play”
That’s all
So they say, “how’d you ever get your life like that? You just stare at cave paintings, we cannot help but ask”
And he replies, “Well you see, I

Lunatic
04:14
|
|||
I woke up alone
And I walked through town
And I passed the king, sittin on the ground, just lying there
He was ragged and bleedin’ from some kind of fight
He just had with some military types
He said “hey man can you spare some dough?
And I said hell you know, I’m dead broke
And this town is a fucking knock-knock joke”
I said, “I try to be good
I try to breathe easy
But they cut out my tongue and say that they never believed me
Now I look like some kind lunatic
I try to be fair
I try and play nice
But here they don’t say convenience they say sacrifice
And this trash can water is making me sick
I don’t have any change
But ill help you to your feet
And I can direct you to the freaks praising you down the street
He said I’ve seen them, they’re nice
And I try to be fair
But all my lookalikes are stealing the fresh air
And that aint good
They killed me with kindness til I came outside
Now they kill me with glances as they pass me by
You’d think I’d be better off
With the cheery message I send
Hell, I’ve got 400 personal friends
But I can’t even find a place to hang my head
I said, I’ve spent enough time here, I’ve got places to be
He said, careful you know. Everyone will hate you because of me.
And I just walked away
Cause don’t care what some lunatic has to say

The Chopping Block
02:52
|
|||
Your dirty ears,
And your trenchant mouth
We oughta wash your 200 body parts out
You talk like an animal, in people’s clothes
Your falling brow
Your crooked nose
It’s coming for you
Of your callous smoke
Your skull is full
We should reach inside your muscles
To your spine and pull
You bark like a man in an animal’s den
Your broken neck
You squawk and then
You lay your little head down
And it’s coming for you

The Letter
03:28
|
|||
The letter that came
Sitting back into chairs saying these are the days we thought never would come
It read “where have you been since you’ve gone?”
The fog that hung down
Cut the view from the air to the ground
From that night to the pond
It said “where have you been since you’ve gone?”
The storm in your room
Collected in empty cups and scribbled cartoons
From every night that was wrong
The day has said “where have you been since you’ve gone”
And in the rivers flood
They told me I’d see every one person I ever did love
For every one I saw wrong
They asked “where have you been since you’ve gone?”

Every Time I Observe
04:31
|
|||
When he sees through the smoke; they’re not listening
When he breathes in the air he can’t fall asleep
And they paw at the soil so constantly
There’s a hole to bury the dead in the deep
So where are your blessings, why don’t you count em?
But I know damn well that you won’t
So if I could be where you are?
Would that solidify the skin in my arms?
So I could catch every word that you tell?
Or do I just go mad by myself?
And does his current piece stands to reason?
He swears it sits somewhere inside the crooked fucked up practice you believe in
And he tells me with every one he meets he knows he’s getting sicker
And those nights when he can’t sleep he dreams of piling the dirt on thicker
So where are your blessings, I know you’ve got em
But you say “damn well you know I don’t”
So if I could be where you are?
It would solidify the skin in my arms?
So I could catch every word that you tell?
Or do I just go mad by myself?
Cause never once have I seen these birds
That he speaks every time I observe
